Hello *waves* I've decided to start using the wonderful world of Blogger, it seems there are so many fabulous crafting blogs out there that use Blogger and I wanted to try to join in the fun too. I may not be as active as some of them but hopefully I'll post a few times a month.
At the moment it seems the UK is actually having a summer, which no doubt delights many of you out there. For me, however, it is torture. I really am not a summer person, give me a colourful Autumn or a fresh, bright spring day anytime over summer. Consequently I spent yesterday indoors crafting, rather than soaking up the sun.
I picked up a tiny little undecorated wooden bird house from the Paperartsy stand while I was at the Hobby Crafts fair at the NEC last March and hadn't got around to doing anything with it yet, so a day indoors seemed an idea opportunity to get cracking. I'd also indulged in some acrylic paints from Eco Green Crafts via Create & Craft last week and was dying to start using those too. I'd chosen two sets that were mainly greens with a brown and orange too. I chose to stick to a brown and turquoise palette with a touch of white to freshen it up.
The birdhouse is only about 2 & half inches high, so it was a little fiddly to work with. I painted it in a base coat of 'mulch' then dry brushes it with a layer of 'waterfall' and then a little bit of white. I used acrylic paint for the stamping too, using 'green patina' for the dragonflies and white for the tiny stars.
The roofing was made using metal which had been run through a Cuttlebug in the 'script' embossing folder. I painted over it in 'mulch' and then blotted it with 'green patina' and a little bit of 'waterfall'. I stuck it to the roof using humungo killer tape and then sanded here and there to bring through some sliver highlights.
I would have added more photos but I can't work out how to put in more than one without them all appearing at the top of the page, doh! Hopefully I'll find out how soon and then I'll update it. *updated at 12.51pm I googled it and found out how ;-)
Any comments will be highly appreciated!
See you soon,
