Something I have been doing a fair bit of lately is cross stitch. It was my first real crafting hobby and it's nice to have fallen back in love with it. I have a large piece on the go at the moment but in between stitching that I have managed to make a stitched valentine card as well as a small picture piece.
This small piece is from a book of designs by Joan Elliot called 'Fairy Enchantment', she was lovely and quick to stitch taking me exactly one week to do (she is only 4 & half inches square after all!).
This is the valentine card I made for my husband this year, it is another Joan Elliott design from a book of cross stitch card patterns. Lots of little beads on this one which were a bit fiddly to add but worth is as they finish the pattern off nicely.
Hopefully I'll be finishing the larger piece I'm stitching very soon and I promised to blog about that one too :-)
I know exactly what you mean Sarah about selling on the web - I've given that up too and just get a few requests from customers that have stayed faithful to me, and a few new ones via facebook page. I love your cross-stitch - did you colour the backgrounds with ink?
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissy! I buy the fabric from a lady who hand dyes it herself, she makes lots of different colours and some sparkly finishes too, they are so nice I want them all!

Stunning X-stitch Sarah....!!! I love the valentines card.
ReplyDeleteI've packed in my website too - didn't sell a thing for months and decided to save the cash. It was going for 2 years but never did really well. I sell quite a bit through Facebook though. I have just the right amount of projects coming in for me as I work full time too. Have you thought of creating another page for your cards & other projects? It's free and that's always good - lol.
Nice to see you back on here....
Jo. xx
Hi Jo, thanks for your kind comment. I really need to get a bit of stock made before I think of setting up a facebook page. It does work though putting things on there as a lady I work with saw my 'Dream' piece and wants me to stitch one for her! Trouble is with cross stitch I have no idea what to charge as you have to put much more time into stitching than you do making cards :-/
DeleteLovely to see you back Sarah. Your cross stitch pictures are beautiful. Cross stitch is one craft that I have never been able to get the hang of! Dianne.
ReplyDeleteHello Dianne! Thank you for your lovely comment xx
